C. Doyle Piety, Prairie Creek, passed away July 9, 2014 at 5:16 a.m. at Union Hospital. He was born in Clay County, IN on August 17, 1925 to Cassius and Lula (Turner) Piety. He was a cement mason and was a longtime member of the Cement Mason Local, a US Navy veteran of WW2 having served in the Pacific Theater on the USS Washington, a 1943 graduate of Prairie Creek High School, and a member of Prairie Creek American Legion Post # 404. He also repaired all kinds of clocks. He is also survived by his two dogs, Snickers and Calvin. His family members include his wife, Rose Mary (Inks) Piety to whom he was married on June 5, 1969; daughters Kathy Sontag and husband Rudy, Vickie Brooks and husband Mike, Tammie Rooney and husband Patrick; son Bruce Ripple and wife Dee; and a sister Doretta Brown. His grandchildren are Sean (Kelly) Rooney, Ryan (Angelica) Rooney, Daniel (Christina) Rooney, Michael Rooney, Matthew Rooney, Robert (Stacey) Bennett, Stacy Bennett, Lisa (Mark) Harig, David (April) Ripple, Tymothy (Jami) Ripple, Dennis (Heather) Cummins, and Wayne Douglas (Jennifer) Cummins. His great-grandchildren are Kathryn, Vanessa Rooney, and Sonny Rooney, Gavin Rooney, Leah Seo , Casey, Cole, Caden Bennett, Cody Burgess, Brittnay Woods, Jessica Harig, Delane Holley, Kyle, Jaden, Dominic, and Lori Ripple, Mahara Ripple, Aurora Ripple, Oluf Cummins, James Cummins, Kennedy Cummins, and Madison Cummins; and his great-great-grandchildren Aubriella Allen, Tristan, , Harley, Skylar, and Samuel Holley. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with family members speaking and VWF# 972 conducting military rites. Calling will be from noon until services.
