Thomas T. Migaki, 86 passed away on January 3. 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN of complications from emergency abdominal surgery. A forty seven year resident of Terre Haute, he was born to Kinhichi and Hisano Migaki on April 23, 1927 in Troy, Montana. Tom graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelors degree in microbiology and received a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Washington State University. He worked for Pfizer as a research veterinarian for twenty six years and retired in 1992. After his retirement, Tom volunteered as a tutor, delivered Meals on Wheels, worked in the Salvation Army’s food pantry, helped build houses at Habitat for Humanity, served on the vestry of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and was an active participant in life, particularly enjoying tennis and golf. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Amy Migaki; two sons, Paul (Janet) of Corona del Mar, CA, Gregg of Chicago, grandchildren Lauren and Tom; daughter Mary Ellen Carter (David) of Indianapolis and grandchildren Kyle and Caroline Beagle. He is also survived by an older brother, George (Riyo) of Newberg, OR. He was also preceded in death by another brother, Jim. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, January 10 at St Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 215 N 7th Street Terre Haute, IN 47807. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 11 at 11 am, also at the church.
