Dorothy M. Fears

Fears_Dorothy1Dorothy M. Fears, (95) went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2014. She was born March 4, 1919, to Harry and Maud Von Eute in Terre Haute, In. She was married to Charles E. Fears for 57 years, before his death in Aug., 1996.

She is survived by a son, Gary E. Fears and his wife, Judy; a daughter, Susan K. Wahl; four-grandsons, ( Todd Fears of Tampa, Fl., Tim Fears of Terre Haute, Troy Fears of Terre Haute, Michael Smith of Seymour and one granddaughter, Andrea Wahl-Ivy of Evansville; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents were one brother, Harry F. Von Eute; three sisters:, Beverly Light, Nadine Effinger and Margaret Nash.

Dorothy dearly loved her family and church (Maryland Community). She was former president of the Honey Creek High School Mother Bees club. She was a devoted care-giver for many people over her entire life. She was truly a blessing to her family and friends and will be deeply missed.  

Per her wishes, a private burial will be held at Roselawn Cemetery on November 13, 2014. A memorial, Celebration of Life, service for family and friends will take place at Maryland Community Church on Nov. 14, 2014. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

The family of Dorothy would like to thank the entire staff of Westminster Health and Rehab for the wonderful care given to her during the two years of her stay at the facility. Anne Therese Pfister Cronin, 86, formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on November 9, 2014 in Sanibel Island, Florida. She was the youngest child of Ben and Emma Pfister, born December 11, 1927. She attended Sacred Heart School; she graduated from Ladywood High School, in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1945. She went on to graduate from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in 1949. When she married Richard Cronin, she devoted herself to her true mission in life, that of being a full time wife and mother. Anne’s proudest successes were her six children. She is survived by all of her children Catherine Cronin, Marcia and Mark Warwich, Rick Cronin, Claire Cronin, Brian and Sharon Cronin, Michelle and Tyler Crowley, her nine grandchildren Anne and Mark Warwich, Joshua, Catherine, Emily and Hannah Crowley, Ben Dean and Riley Cronin, and also her sister Mary Elizabeth and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Raymond, Joe, John, Charles, Paul, Leo, Bob, and Bill, and her sister Rita. Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, November, 15, 2014 at 12:00p.m. in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 South 9th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47807. Father Martin Day will be officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, from 10:00a.m. until 12:00p.m. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary of the Woods College. Mary R. Ennen, 88, known as Rosalie or Rose by friends and family, passed away Saturday November 8, 2014 in Ellicott City, MD where she had moved in 2010 to be closer to her daughter. Prior to that she had spent 26 years in Anniston, AL and she grew up in Terre Haute, IN where she lived with her Aunt Dovie Webster and attended Croft Elementary and graduated from Wiley High School. She was born January 6, 1926 in Springfield, MO to Jack L. Shelley and Erna E. (Webster) Shelley.  Rosalie is survived by her daughter, Carolyn K. Flynn of Ellicott City, MD; grandchildren, Timothy M. Flynn and Stacy K. Laun both of Ellicott Citty, MD and four great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years, Wayne Robert Ennen, who died November of 1988 and her only sibling, Laurel Hope Spear who died in 2013.  Visitation will be Saturday November 15, 2014 in DeBaun Funeral Home, Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. Terre Haute, IN from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with funeral services at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Rod Maris officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute, IN. The family suggests that that for those who desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of their choice.

hayworth harry jpgHarry H. Hayworth, 86, lifelong Vigo County resident, passed away on November 12, 2014. He was born on February 29, 1928 to Ira and Edna (Shoemaker) Hayworth. Mr. Hayworth was retired from the maintenance department at Bemis Company. He was a longtime member of the Prairie Creek Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed woodworking projects especially making birdhouses and squirrel feeders, and liked to fish and travel. He loved his family most of all and his special dog PinkieLou. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Mary Ann Allen, his first wife Mary (Norris) Hayworth, a brother Cloyd ‘Whitey’ Hayworth, and a sister Clara Ellen Drake. He is survived by his wife Margaret (James) Hayworth, a daughter Donna J. ‘Beannie’ Hayworth, a granddaughter that he raised and considered a third daughter, Chasiti Hayworth and her son Cruz; and step-children Steve Hinton, David Hinton, Richard Hinton, Ronald Hinton, and Susan Smith. He has one surviving sister Olive M. Hope, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Pastor Kyle Andrews officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery. Michael “Mike” Saylor, 54, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday November 11, 2014 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. Mike was born May 11, 1960 in Terre Haute to Arnold Saylor and Ella Marie Jeffries Saylor. Mike was a 1978 graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School and a 1982 graduate of Indiana State University. Mike was the former basketball coach and Physical Education teacher at Terre Haute South Vigo, Saylor joined South Vigo on the coaching staff of former Coach Pat Rady in 1989, during the 1991 season, the Braves went to the Final Four. A few years later, Saylor took his coaching talents to Mexico where he was coach of the squad at the University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey. There Mike coached Eduardo Najera, who had a long career in the NBA. He later returned to Terre Haute and coaching and teaching in the Vigo County School Corp. Mike was a walk-on player at Indiana State University. Known for his white hair and fun loving and giving nature, Mike had hoped to return to the school corporation this year. Mike is survived by his wife Pati Saylor of Terre Haute, three daughters; Victoria Saylor, Sofia Saylor and Andrea Saylor, all of Terre Haute. He is also survived by his parents, Arnold and Ella Marie Saylor of Terre Haute, three brothers; Gary Saylor and his wife Janet of Summerville, SC., Dan Saylor and his wife Leslee of Newburgh, IN., and Richard Saylor of Terre Haute. Survivors include three aunts and uncles; Bill and Sharon Jeffries of Terre Haute, Walter and Martha Jeffries of Greencastle and Alan and Maria Jeffries of Rensselaer. Mike is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins as well as Mike’s cousin Kara and Her husband Rob Shane of Houston, TX., who were tremendously helpful during Mike’s illness. Mike was preceded in death by an aunt, Wilma Rose and his very close friend, Jim Bogle. Services are Sunday November 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Terre Haute South Vigo High School in the gymnasium. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the school. Rev. Rusty Deckard will be officiating. Burial will be at Highland Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to The Coach Mike Saylor Fund, c/o Ellis Law, 417 Wabash Ave, Terre Haute, IN. 47807. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street has been entrusted with arrangements.

Arden L. Ramsey, 83 of Farmersburg, passed away at 7:02 AM on Monday, November 17, 2014 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born in Braham, MN on September 29, 1931 to Leland B. Ramsey and Iva C. Bechtold Ramsey. He retired as Chief Engineer for WTWO-TV. Arden is survived by his wife of 60 years, Esther Knight Ramsey, two sons, Thomas A. Ramsey (Cathy), and Steven A. Ramsey (Marla), as well as one daughter, Linda C. Jenkins (Richard). Also surviving are his grandchildren; Nicholas Ramsey, Alan Ramsey, Ryan Jenkins, Eric Jenkins, Krista Ramsey, Nathan Ramsey, Evan Mathews, and Tyler Mathews, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Ramona Ramsey. Arden was an Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War, was a member of United Methodist Temple Church, and was an amateur radio enthusiast—going by the call letters “W9JCU”. Funeral services will be held at United Methodist Temple Church on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM, with Pastor W. Kevin Drane officiating. Burial will follow in Farmersburg Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled in DeBaun Springhill Chapel for Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in his memory.

On, Monday, November 17, 2014, Debra Kay Reed passed away of Breast Cancer. She was born March 1, 1951 and was preceded in death by her father Leslie Dean. She is survived by her mother Wanda “Peggy” Dean. She is also survived by her sons Dr. Robert Reed of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and David Reed, his wife Adrienne, and daughters Piper Mackenzie and Addison Grace of Franklin, Indiana. Additional survivors include her sister, Patricia Dean Reed and children, Leslie, Ambyr and Dakota. She is also survived by her brother, Scott Dean, his wife, Teresa, and children, Taylor, Aaron, Logan, and Megan. Finally, Aunt Mary Ann (Dean) Maconkin, and husband Dr. Harold Maconkin of Florida, Uncle Melvin Dean of Coalmont, Indiana and her father’s twin brother Wesley Dean of Terre Haute are survivors.
Debra graduated from Honey Creek High School, later attending Indiana State University with a major in English Education.   She received a PFENIG scholarship for outstanding English student. She earned a master’s degree in Education Speech and Theatre. Her first teaching position was at the Gibault School for Boys. She proceeded to teach at Rosedale, Montezuma, and Riverton Parke Schools. In 1997, Debra began teaching English, Speech, and Theater at Terre Haute South where she produced and directed nearly 20 plays and was the Speech Team director for several years. She retired in 2013.
Debra volunteered for the March of Dimes Community Theatre and United Way. She performed with the Vermillion County Theatre group. She was also once a member of Delta Kappa Pi. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Debra Moore-Hardin officiating. The burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, her family would like for contributions be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Debra’s cousin Alan Dean who died as a teenager from Muscular Dystrophy.
