Leo Mack Hedden, Jr., 68 of Clinton, IN, passed away at 11:11 PM on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Union Hospital in Clinton.  He was born in Terre Haute on January 10, 1946 to Leo Mack Hedden, Sr. and Waneta Jene Lea Hedden.  He retired as a forklift driver for General Motors, and also served as Union Steward there for ten years.  He was a member of Euclid Lodge # 573 F & AM—where he also served as Past Master, Terre Haute York Rite, and was the only founder of Rule 62—located at 2301 Hulman St.  He was preceded in death by both parents.  He is survived by his wife Tonya Fields Hedden, and two sons, Leo F. Hedden and W. Paul Hedden (wife Cheryl).  Also surviving are two step-children, Veronica Nevins (husband Lee) and Allen Stephens, as well as two step-grandchildren, Owen and Amelia Nevins.  Other survivors include a step-brother, Rusty Hedden, and three step-sisters;  Leonda Hedden, Donna Hoffman, and Vicky Hoffman.  Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Saturday, May 3 , 2014 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Dwight Hatfield officiating.  Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery.  Visitation is Saturday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 12 Noon – 2:00 PM with a Masonic service to be performed by Terre Haute Masonic Lodge # 19 F & AM at 1:45 PM.

Paul F. “Red” Sanders passed away on April 29, 2014 at the age of 93 following a short illness. He was born on July 25, 1920, to James M. and Nora (Hubbard) Sanders, the youngest of nine siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. He was married in 1942 to Juanita Mae Willoughby, who passed away in March, 2010. They had a long and happy life together. He is survived by his son, Dr. Chester Sanders and his wife Nancy of Twin Lake, Michigan, granddaughter Sarah E. Scott of South Bend and grandson Derek P. Sanders, his wife Carli and their two year old son, Carder, of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Paul was born in Terre Haute where he lived his entire life. He retired from Wabash Fiber Box in 1982 after 42 years. In retirement he enjoyed several jobs, the last one with ServiceMaster where he worked for more than ten years, until 2009. Paul was an avid reader, visiting the library often and enjoyed watching college and professional football. He loved fishing and spent a week every summer for 66 years at Kennedy’s Cabins in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. In recent years the whole family went. Paul enjoyed good health and was active and independent until 2014. His was a life well lived, always with responsibility and a strong moral compass, he was well loved, had a keen mind, remembered everything, and will be greatly missed by those who loved him. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley, 400 Eighth Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana 47804. Luella F. Frazier, 70, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday April 26, 2014 at 4:55 p. m. in her home. Luella was born on March 16, 1944 in Fresno, California to Patrick Ferrell and Helen Swartz Ferrell. Luella retired from T.W.A. as a flight attendant after 38 years of service. She also loved to cook, travel around the world, knitting and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents, and son Brian Frazier. She is survived by her husband Bobbie (B.K.) Frazier, whom she married March 29, 1980, one son, Lawrence Frazier of Pensacola, FL; brother, Kenneth Ferrell and his wife Kathy of Phoenix, AZ; three nieces, Helen Nolan, Melissa Farrell and Patricia Uptain and a nephew, Eric Andrew Farrell. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, 47803, with Father Rick Ginther officiating. (Smith) Hescher. Allison was happy to be alive. Her smile lit up the room. Each time she smiled at you it was as if she was giving you her gift. She loved to laugh and play in the bath. She loved to be snuggled and to suck her thumb. She was cared for so lovingly by her big brother and little sister and will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her parents; her twin sister, Anna Colene Hescher; her big brother, Ryan Charles Hescher; maternal grandparents, Bradley and Patricia Smith; paternal grandmother, Jill Hescher; maternal great grandmother, Mary Jane Sprong; paternal great grandfather, Chuck Hescher and his wife Patricia; paternal great grandmother, Jean Wheeler; aunt, Jennifer Back and her husband Corey and their children Monty and Miles; uncle, Joseph Hescher and his wife Brittany and their children Myles and Mollie, and uncle, Ean Hescher. Michael Edward Stultz age 67 of Columbus, Indiana and formerly of Terre Haute escaped his Earthly bonds to be with our Lord and Savior on May 1, 2014. Michael was born on January 6, 1947, a son of the late Roy Edward Stultz and Bonnie Ellen Burger Stultz. Michael is survived by 4 brothers, Kevin Stultz and Christopher Stultz of Terre Haute, Indiana, Stephen Stultz of Friendswood, Texas, and Danny Stultz and his wife Mary Riley Stultz of Sandytown, Indiana; 3 sisters, LuAnn Carpenter, Melinda Stultz, and Marilyn Perez all of Terre Haute, and several nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Edward Stultz and Bonnie Ellen Burger Stultz, and a nephew, Jason Michael Stultz. Michael’s family will hold a private service at highland Lawn Cemetery with his brother Danny Stultz officiating to celebrate his life, and his journey to be with our Father in Heaven. Rose was born November 19, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to Leonardo Caltabiano and Elizabeth (Gullo) Caltabiano. She is survived by a daughter, Lillian Jacobsen of Terre Haute; a son, Robert “Bob” Jacobsen and his wife Theresa of Terre Haute; 5 grandchildren, Lisa DuVall and her husband Ryan, Amy Pula and her husband Paul, Rob Jacobsen, Mike Jacobsen and his wife Valarie, and Sara Jacobsen; 8 great grandchildren, Austin, Brodi, Arissa, Payton, Maddux, Lilly, Grace, and Eli; sisters, Mary and Yolanda, brother, Tony; many nieces and nephews, and good friends, Larry and Linda Shaw and Donna VanHorn (who Rose thought of as a daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frederick “Al” Jacobsen, who she married June 13, 1948, and he died November 22, 2008; sister, Connie, and brothers, Jim, Fred, and John. Rose was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a sweet, loving lady who had a beautiful singing voice and was known to sing “Ave Maria” at many weddings. Rose had a love for her family, gardening, and animals. Visitation will be Wednesday May 7, 2014 from 12:00pm until 3:00 pm in DeBaun Funeral Home, Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. with funeral services at 3:00 pm in the funeral home with Deacon Mike Strapman officiating. Mark Steven Felling, 47 of Terre Haute, passed away Monday May 5, 2014 from injuries sustained from an automobile accident. Mark was born July 22, 1966 in Terre Haute to Herbert Leroy Felling and Linda Plasencia. He worked as a roofer and was a member of the Roofers Union Local 150. He also worked at Random House Publishing for many years in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Sr. He was also a Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching basketball and baseball. He enjoyed the outdoors and going fishing whenever he could. Most of all, Mark had a special place in his life for his family, especially his grandchildren. Mark was preceded in death by his grandmother; Audry Small, and a cousin; Andy Swartz. He is survived by his parents; Lee and Linda, one daughter; Jordyn Boyer and her husband Sam, a step-daughter; Megan Frost, four brothers; Shawn Felling and his wife Yvonne, Lee Felling, Brenden Felling, and Covie Hurtt, three sisters; Michelle Felling, Stacey Hurtt, and Odessa Hurtt, grandchildren; Ayden Racey, Ava Freed, Bella Boyer, and expected grandchild Brynlee Boyer. Mark is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, friends, family, and loved ones. A memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held Thursday May 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47804. Richard L. Kiger, 55, of Terre Haute passed away on May 2, 2014 in an auto accident in Missouri. His brother Roger Kiger also died in the accident.  Richard was employed at Long John Silvers.  He was born in Rockville on December 12, 2958 to Ivan and Betty (Martin) Kiger and they have preceded him in death.  Survivors include his wife Lenora (Inks) Kiger, daughter Amber Kiger, sons Patrick Pratt and Glenn Pratt, brothers Glenn Kiger and Jim Kiger, and sisters Janet Fortner, Bonnie Hastings, Mary Bell.  His sister Sue McLeod has also preceded him in death.  He has five grandhildren.  Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Central Christian Church with John Fowler officiating.  Friends may call one hour prior to the start of the memorial.  Online condolences can be made at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com

Jacob Chance Richard Morris, 7 months of age, passed away Thursday May 8, 2014 in St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Jacob was born September 19, 2013 in Indianapolis to Ryan Morris and Misty Story. Jacob was a courageous fighter; he had undergone numerous surgeries in his little lifetime but always fought hard. He was resilient and kept fighting until the very end. Jacob was preceded in death by his grandfather; Richard Bowen. He is survived by his parents; Misty Story and Ryan Morris, his great grandmother; Mary Lou Morris, his grandparents; Molly Story, Ruth Alexander, and Chuck Morris, his brother; Colin Story, sister; Haley Morris, great aunt’s; Rebecca Gallez, Debbie Malone, and Julie, his uncle; Chris Story, and his special caregivers; Brittany Switzer, Lauren Shaw, and all of the doctors and nurses as St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Funeral services for Jacob will be held Monday May 12, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana. Lois E. Benton, of West Terre Haute, passed away May 8, 2014 in Frankfort, IN surrounded by friends and family.  She was born January 31, 1932 in Sandford to Roy and Ola (Howell) French and they have preceded her in death.  She was also preceded by her husband James Benton on April 26, 2007 and her son Larry Benton in 2004.  She retired from the production department of Quaker Maid and had belonged to the West Terre Haute VFW # 6574 Auxilliary and the West Terre Haute Young Men’s Club Auxilliary.  Her survivors are a daughter Terry Wyer and husband Rick; grandsons Jamie Smith and wife Christina and Darren Wyer and wife Trish;  great-grandchilren Taylor, Connor, Jessica, and Alexis.  Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Pisgah Cemetery, rural West Terre Haute.  Immediately following the services there will be a Gathering of Friends at the West Terre Haute VFW Post.    Those who choose can make memorial contributions to Alzhemiers Association, 50 E. 91st St Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209.

lafko, peter photoReverend Peter Lafko of McCordsville and formerly of Terre Haute went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2014, surrounded by his family. Peter was born February 10, 1916 in West Virginia to Ukrainian parents Paul and Pearl Lafko. He was raised in the small coal mining town of Helvetia, PA where he met and married Willet (Larsen) Lafko, his wife of 72 years. After graduating from Luthersburg High School, he worked as a coal miner alongside his father and brother. He later worked in a car manufacturing plant and as a farmer before earning his seminary degree and becoming a pastor. “Pastor Pete” faithfully served as a United Methodist minister in Monroe City, Welton Chapel, Reels Chapel, Hamlin Chapel, Prairie Creek, Pimento, Fletcher Chapel, Ashboro, Centerpoint, West Terre Haute, and Lewis. In that time he shared the love of Christ with hundreds of parishioners. He loved his congregations, and enjoyed his years as their pastor. In his free time, Pete enjoyed gardening, bowling, spending time with his family, and following his beloved Yankees and IU Hoosiers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willet, a daughter, Darlene Douglas; a son, Peter Lafko, Jr.; his parents, three brothers, Joseph Lefko, Paul Lefko, and Max Lefko, and one sister, Mary Lefko. Pete is survived by his son Robert Lafko and wife Andrea of New Albany, IN; his daughter, Bodonna Hale and her husband Herb of McCordsville; his brother John Lefko and his wife Julie of Florida; his sister Matilda (Tika) Antos and her husband Joseph; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday May 14, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm in DeBaun Funeral Home, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. with funeral services on Thursday May 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastors Aaron Wheaton and Dave Galbraith officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.

Robert Eugene West, 63 of Terre Haute went home to be with the Lord and his wife Connie of 42 years. Bob was born May 3, 1951 in Terre Haute to Emma Lucille Hudson and Claude West Jr. He was employed by International Paper in Terre Haute as a heavy diesel mechanic for over 30 years. Bob enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Tony Stewart. He loved to be outside, and going camping in his 5th wheel travel trailer. He was very dedicated to his work, but always had time for his family, especially his grandchildren who were near and dear to his heart. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Connie West, and one brother-in-law; Mike Berkley. He is survived by two sons; Charles Norris and his wife Robyn of Michigan, and Bobby West and his girlfriend Cassie Robinson of Terre Haute, two daughters; Jessica Franco and her husband Salvador, and Paula West and her boyfriend Alex Franco, four brothers, Fred Stranahan and his wife Sally, Claude West and his wife Tonya, Clyde West and his wife Beth, and Paul (Mickey) West and his wife Diane, two sisters; Melissa Everhart and her husband Mike, and Jeanne Berkley. Bob is also survived by twelve grandchildren, as well as many other nieces, nephews, friends, family, and loved ones. A memorial service to commemorate Bob’s life will be held Monday May 11, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Oak Hill Community Church, 10055 South State Road 46, Riley Indiana, with Pastor Tim Fagg officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would graciously accept contributions to help offset the funeral expenses for Bob.
