Helen I. (Thomson) Payton, born June 14, 1928 in Terre Haute to Norma and Joseph Thomson, died October 31, 2014 in the home of her daughter and caregivers, Margaret and Harold Ellinger of Terre Haute. Other survivors include, daughter and co-caregiver, Kathleen and Leo Sullivan of Salem, NH; son, Gary Payton and wife Rebecca of Terre Haute, John Payton of Evert, MA, and ex-daughter-in-law, Donna Payton of MA., and step-daughter, Betty Wilkie and husband Albert of Terre Haute. Other survivors include, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death her parents, brothers, Joe Thomson and Walter Thomson, sister, Adury Niece, grandson, Brian Payton, great great grandson, Tyler Henneman, step-daughter, Waynetta, and ex-husband and father of her children, Wayne E. Payton. Helen loved to do puzzles, plastic canvas, watch ice skating, and baseball. She was a Larry Bird fan. Family can meet at Highland Lawn Cemetery Chapel at 10:30 am Wednesday November 5, 2014. Friends can come pay their respects starting at 11:00 am Wednesday and funeral services will begin at 11:30 am in the chapel with Pastor Guinn Shingleton of Faith Outreach Family Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery. DeBaun Funeral Home, Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
