Charles A. Bielfield, 91, of Cannon Inn passed away August 3, 2014. He was born on November 6, 1922 to Walter and Blanch (Orem) Bielfield and they have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister Martha F. Schafer and her husband Kenneth, and her brother Robert W. Bielfield and his wife Ruby. Charles was an Army/Air Corps veteran of WW2 and was discharged as a Sergeant with the 2nd Air Force 201st Army/Air Force Base Unit. While serving in the military he had applied to be an aviation candidate but was denied because he was underweight. He was a 1940 graduate of State Lab High School and also attended ISU for one year. His memberships are St. Mark United Church of Christ, Prairieton Masonic Lodge # 178 F&AM, and he had formerly belonged to the Zorah Shrine. His working career began with C. R. Mayfield International Harvester and he the purchased the business and renamed it Bielfield Tractor Sales, Inc. and was the International Harvester Dealer of Terre Haute. On August 11, 1945 he married Dorothy (Blocksom) Bielfield at the Army/Air Force Base Chapel at Grand Rapids, Nebraska and she survives. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Paula Bielfield Wilson, Bruce Bielfield, Janet Schafer Jacobs, Jeannine Schafer Power; great-nieces and nephews Ross Wilson, Erica Wilson, Kira Bielfield Williams, Kyle Bielfield, Jordan Jacobs, Cameron Power, and Connor Power; great-great nieces and nephew Reese Wilson, McKenzie Wilson , and Ruby Williams. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until services. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery.
