Ruby Kathleen Carter, 104 of Terre Haute, passed away at 8:37 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in Terre Haute Union Hospital. She was born in Regent, North Dakota on January 16, 1910, the last of 7 children to George and Burr Lee Carter.  Her parents moved to North Dakota from Indiana in 1906 to homestead.  She and her mother returned to Terre Haute, IN after her father died in 1932.

She was employed by Packard Shirt during World War II and later began her long career as a nurse’s aide at Union Hospital where she retired in 1975.  She then volunteered at the hospital until 1998.  She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church.  She never married.  Ms. Carter leaves two nephews, Ray Rogers of Fort Wayne, IN and James E. Carter of Seymour, IN, as well as a niece, Margaret Lee Frazier of Arlington, TX, and several great nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held at Faith Baptist Church, 2505 College Ave., Terre Haute, In 47803, on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Jim Gibson officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the church.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of DeBaun Funeral Homes and Crematory.
