Louis Halbert was born December 25, 1932 to the parentage of the late James Halbert, Sr. and Almeater Halbert in West Point Mississippi. He departed this life on Friday, June 13, 2014. Arriving in Chicago, he worked as a construction worker for Waverly Construction, the family business, until his retirement. Louis was a reliable, hard working, kind and considerate man. Preceding him in death were his parents, sons Louis Jr. and Willie (Bill), his brothers Percy, James, and Willie, sisters Reverend Bessie Lenior and Lillie Mae Pruitt. Louis leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted companion Mrytle Gore, two bothers Charles (Mary), L.J. (Melba Jean), one sister Dessie Amos of West Point MS and his children, Gregory (Maxine), Robin, Stanley (Yvonne), Almeater (Joseph), and Tony. Also cherishing his memories are his grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
