Rebecca Ann Hemmrich, 81, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at home in Midland, Ga. She was born in Terre Haute, on Sept.17, 1935, to William L . and Bernettia L . Smith Stout. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Norm Hemmrich; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Andy Thornton of Midland; and two sons, Steven Hemmrich of Virginia Beach, Va., and David Hemmrich and daughter-in-law Genie Hemmrich of Terre Haute. She also is survived by granddaughters, Allison Hutcheson of Griffin, Ga., and Kaitlyn Tatum of Virginia Beach; and grandsons, Seth and Samuel Hemmrich of Terre Haute, Josh Hemmrich of Virginia Beach, and Michael Thornton of Columbus, Ga. Rebecca was a graduate of Wiley High School and she received her graduate and post graduate degrees from Indiana State University. She served as an elementary school teacher in Terre Haute, Houston, LaGrange, Ga., and Athens, Ga. Rebecca and her husband were members of Christ Community Church in Columbus. Services will be held Monday, May 8, 2017, at DeBaun South Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Visitation will begin at 1 pm.; followed by a service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Terry Stevens will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be left at:
