James Erwin

James W. Erwin, Jr., age 90 passed away on January 16, 2016 at Union hospital. He was born on Sept. 12, 1925 in Louisville, KY. to the late James W. and Katherine E. (Schaefer) Erwin. He was also preceeded in death by his two sisters, Anna Mae Weaver and Laura Eloise Vannoy. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen M. (Jones) Erwin and son Dr. David K. Erwin and wife Cynthia, sister-in-law Wanda Mae Clawson, her family, brother-in-law Thomas Tyler.several nieces and nephews. Mr. Erwin was a U.S. Naval Air Corps veteran of WW II, an Aviation Ordnanceman, Aerial gunner and Radar operator. He received the following decorations; Aircrewmans wings with (3) gold stars, (2) Air Medals, American Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign with (2) bronze battle stars, Occupation of Japan with Asia claspe, and WW II Victory Medals. He retired from Girdler/Chemetron Corp. Louisville, KY after a career of (37) years as a Mechanical Designer, and worked another (5) years for Lantech, Inc., Louisville, KY as a Mechanical Designer for their Research & Development and Converted Products Divisions.
