Alta A. Linnenburger, 70, passed away on Sunday June 7, 2015 at 1:57 p.m. at her apartment in Westminster Village. Alta was born August 27, 1944 in Bowen, IL to Edwin and Irean (Myers) Linnenburger.
She is survived by one son, Jeff Hashbarger (Jill his wife) of Homer, IL, and their three granddaughters, Cora, Grace, and Gabrielle Hashbarger, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Willis Linnenburger of West Point, IL.
Alta graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville, Il with a degree in psychology and later attended St. Mary of the Woods College receiving a paralegal degree. She worked in various places during her life, and retired from the Trust Department of First Financial Bank in Terre Haute, IN. She really enjoyed attending ISU women’s basketball games and had season tickets for several years. She was a long time member of St. Mark United Church of Christ. Alta will be remembered for her beautiful artwork, and her hugs and laughter by many.
Per her wishes cremation has been accorded. A memorial celebration of her life will be on Saturday July 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark United Church of Christ, 475 S. Fruitridge Ave. in Terre Haute, followed by a luncheon and time of remembrance for family and friends. Rev. Teresa Higus will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions may be made to Merom Conference Center at P. O. Box 127, Merom, IN 47861, St. Mark United Church of Christ, 475 S. Fruitridge Ave. Terre Haute, IN 47803; or the American Cancer Society, 5635 W 96th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46278 in Alta’s name.
