Donna Rae Jackson, 88, formally of Terre Haute, joined her beloved husband of 68 years, Dewey (Lowell) Jackson at the Lord’s Table on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
Donna was born April 26, 1924, to Clarence W & Beulah P Dennis in Terre Haute, where she spent most of her life, graduating from Wiley High School, and marrying and caring for her family. She was very involved in her church, Oregon Baptist, and volunteered at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She worked at Walker Electric before becoming a full-time homemaker and then years later at Graham Grain. She and Dewey spent countless hours in the garden at their home on 29th Street, having a waiting list for tomatoes and other vegetables from their loyal customers. In 2005, they moved to Greenville, SC, to be closer to their children. They lived in a retirement community there and became active in it until their recent illnesses.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Dennis and baby sister, Sara. She is survived by her daughter, Maretta (Greg) Garvey of Greer, SC, a son, Dennis (Jennifer) Jackson of Brentwood, TN, grandchildren, Kevin (Diana) Garvey of Simpsonville, SC, Jonathan Jackson and Meghan Jackson of Brentwood, TN, great-grandson, Michael, a sister, Mary Myers of Villas, NJ, and a sister-in-law, Catherine Dennis of Shepherdsville, KY.
Entombment and funeral services will be at Roselawn Memorial Park Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oregon Baptist Church, 11200 S Carlisle Street, TH 47802 or ISU Foundation, 30 N 5th St, TH 47809. DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive, assisted with arrangements.
