Joining her large family of angels in Heaven, Sharon Ann Gross, 70, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014. Sharon was born Feb. 8, 1944 in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Nellis Poteet and Irene Remler. Establishing early in life that family isn’t always determined by biology, Sharon was adopted and raised by her grandparents George and Pearl Remler. As part of a blended family, Sharon is survived by two sisters, Brenda McGaughy; Sandy (Larry) Hos. Sharon leaves a family behind who will miss her dearly, but rejoices that she has rejoined her many loved ones who passed before her: Ileene and Irene, George and Pearl, and beloved son Charles Gross and cherished grandson Kyle Bitzegaio. After finishing at Garfield High School, Sharon met and married Charles B. Gross of Clinton, Indiana in 1963. In 1964, they had a son, Charles Joseph “Chucky” Gross, followed in 1973 by Melissa Dawn “Missy” Gross. Sharon was also a cousin, turned aunt by adoption, turned surrogate mother by choice, to Bev (John) Bitzegaio. Her children gave her the biggest joys of her life, her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jordyn (Sam) Boyer and her children Ayden, Ava, Bella and Brynlee; Austin Sedletzeck and his daughter Alexa; Matthew Nieft; Jacob Nieft; Ashley (Greg) Hatton and her children Dakotah, Dallas and Kale; Kyle Bitzegaio; Ryan (Kristen) Bitzegaio and his children Ethan and Will. Sharon had several nieces and nephews, including Kim (Joshua) Cramer and son Xander; Jason (Lisa) Hos and son Connor; Jami (Matt) Ashcraft and son Hudson; Cori Nidiffer-Hart (Wade) and children Baylie, Avery, and Shelby; Chris (Jennifer) Nidiffer and children Chris and Seth; Jessica (Doug) Drake, son Isaac; Danielle Bedwell and Travis Bedwell. While nothing brought Sharon more happiness than spending time with her grandchildren, she was also a dog lover who took pride in breeding and grooming her animals. She had an artistic streak, and enjoyed expressing that through ceramic painting. She loved cooking, baking, and hosting holiday dinners – she was famous for her homemade noodles! Sharon was a graduate of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. She spent several years working at Columbia Records and was a group home manager at Normal Life. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 12:00p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47804. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pastor Dustin Spitler will be officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00a.m. until service time. Online condolences may be made at www.greinerfuneralhome.com .
