Carl L. Keegan, 76 of Prairie Creek, passed away at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born the youngest of 11 children to Emery Keegan, Sr. and Ollie Hazlett Keegan on May 25, 1938 in Prairie Creek. Carl is survived by his wife Jessie Church Keegan, three sons; Jeff Patchett (Diane), Earl Edwards, and John Edwards (Dana), and by one daughter, Tracey Bailey (Bill). Also surviving are four sisters; Violet Steward, Charlotte Pound, Joy Edwards (Dewey), and Marjorie Long. In addition, he is also survived by seven grandchildren; David Bailey (Amy), Ben Patchett (Amanda), Jessica Bailey, Mandi Patchett, Jeremy Edwards, Brandon Edwards, and McKenzie Edwards, as well as several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Bailey, and six brothers and sisters. His memberships include The Church of The Living Faith, the Wabash Valley Musician’s Hall of Fame, and the Heavenly Sunshine Gospel Group. He was the last Keegan on “Keegan Place”, where the family settled over 100 years ago, and he enjoyed his animals—especially his horses & loved music and even recorded a Gospel song. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor John Sandiford officiating. Burial will follow in Watson Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
