James William Wilkinson, 73, of Terre Haute, fought a courageous battle with cancer for three years, then went home to the Father on Thursday, September 11, 2014 with his wife by his beside. James was born on April 4, 1941 in Terre Haute to John Wilkinson and Florence Clay Wilkinson. James attended Indiana State University, Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, graduated from Schulte High School and Butler University with a degree in chemical engineering. James was a retired Chemical Engineer. He attended New Hope Fellowship Church. James was known for his love of telling jokes, referred to by all as “Jim Jokes”. James was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Charles and Joan Pound, sister in-law Barbara Campbell and a son in-law Wayne Boman. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janet Pound Wilkinson, a daughter Roberta Boman, of Palmyra, IN., a son, Chris Stephenson and his wife Sheri of Indianapolis, IN., and a special friend “Pepper”. One brother in-law Ed Campbell of Terre Haute. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday September 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Fellowship Church, 1457 Crawford St., Terre Haute, IN., 47807. Pastor Larry Spear will be officiating. Greiner Funeral Home,2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana was entrusted with arrangements. According to his wishes, cremation was chosen.
