Joan Martin, 83 of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday July 20, 2014 in Union Hospital. She was born July 3, 1931 in Terre Haute to Thomas and Thelma Handlin Vandevier. She was an LPN and worked at Davis Gardens and Meadows Manor North for most of her career. She enjoyed bowling, going to the casino, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Michael Martin, and one grandchild; Jennifer Dunham. She is survived by her daughter; Sue Ann Dunham and her husband Dennis, one son; James M. Martin, one brother; Richard Vandevier and his wife Joan, five grandchildren; Beth D’Amico and husband Joe, Melissa Chessir and her husband Travis, Jessica Cooper and her husband John, Korri Martin and her companion Steve Jones, and Jimmy Martin and his wife Jessica, eight great grandchildren; Madalynn, and Emma Armentrout, Kailee and Kameron Cooper, Clarabella and Giulianna D’Amico, Aubrey Chessir, and Gabe Jones. Funeral service for Joan will be held Thursday July 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute Indiana, with Father Bernie LaMontagne officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 23, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
