Shannon M. Buck, 69 of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday July 16, 2014 in Union Hospital. She was born in Terre Haute to Floyd Todd and Virginia R. Rogers Sterling. Shannon was a graduate of Indiana State Lab School in 1963 and worked as a Title 1 reading assistant for Franklin School and was a teacher’s aide for Leona Sterling’s 3rd grade class. She then went on to work as an appliance finisher for John’s Dental Lab and as a CNA for Regional Hospital and various nursing homes. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge #320 and a member of Riley American Legion 328. She was a lifelong Elvis fan and was in attendance at his concert at the Hulman Center. She loved to crochet blankets and make coasters for family and friends, and was an avid reader of murder mysteries, as well as an old movie buff. Her favorite color was purple and she made the best Coke cake. She loved spending time with her family and having family parties. Shannon gave the best hugs and was never in a hurry to let go. She will be remembered as someone who fought for those she loved right up until the end. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father; Matt Rogers, siblings; Lloyd Rogers, Bob Rogers, Juanita (Deda) Blacke and Betty Higham. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard J. Buck; her children; Richard J. Buck (Joey) and his wife Barbie, Erika Edwards and her husband John, and Stephen Buck and his life partner Les Helt, grandchildren; Samantha Buck, David Johnson, James Buck, Jessica and Joey Downing, and Rachael Edwards, one great grandchild; Eisley Johnson, one sister; Sheila Rogers and her husband Vince Huetter of North Carolina, and nephews; Mark, Eric, and Tyler Huetter all of North Carolina. Funeral service for Shannon will be held Saturday July 19, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute with Pastor Brett Wilson officiating.
