Larry D. Hyde, 72, of Terre Haute passed away June 24, 2014 at Union Hospital. He was born in Detroit, MI on March 8, 1942 to Wayne and Alverta (Whetsel) Hyde and they have preceded him in death. Larry retired from the Terre Haute Fire Department after serving 22 years, serving both as a firefighter and an EMT. He then worked in the security division at Union Hospital for 18 years. He was a 1960 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and was active in the organization of his class reunions for many years. Larry was a member of Post # 104 Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid Bob Knight and Indiana University fan. He also loved animals, especially his dog Hootie. He is survived by his wife, Lee (Wooden) Hyde; sons Jeffrey Berndt and companion L.A. Dalle Nogare of Ft. Myers, Fl and Gary Beaulieu of Indianapolis; daughter Lori Thompson and husband Rob of Terre Haute; sisters Judy DeHart of Plainfield and Beverly Price and companion Leroy Moore of Seelyville. His grandchildren are Dathan Berndt of Ft. Myers, Fl, Emily Beaulieu of Oxford, MA, and Maddie Blaine of Terre Haute; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Howard and Bobbie Wooden. He has several nieces, one nephew, and numerous cousins. He was also preceded in death by a niece Angie Oldham, and a brother-in-law Bob DeHart. Funeral services will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Gary Flora officiating. Calling will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
