Paul Sanders

Paul F. “Red” Sanders passed away on April 29, 2014 at the age of 93 following a short illness. He was born on July 25, 1920, to James M. and Nora (Hubbard) Sanders, the youngest of nine siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. He was married in 1942 to Juanita Mae Willoughby, who passed away in March, 2010. They had a long and happy life together. He is survived by his son, Dr. Chester Sanders and his wife Nancy of Twin Lake, Michigan, granddaughter Sarah E. Scott of South Bend and grandson Derek P. Sanders, his wife Carli and their two year old son, Carder, of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Paul was born in Terre Haute where he lived his entire life. He retired from Wabash Fiber Box in 1982 after 42 years. In retirement he enjoyed several jobs, the last one with ServiceMaster where he worked for more than ten years, until 2009. Paul was an avid reader, visiting the library often and enjoyed watching college and professional football. He loved fishing and spent a week every summer for 66 years at Kennedy’s Cabins in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. In recent years the whole family went. Paul enjoyed good health and was active and independent until 2014. His was a life well lived, always with responsibility and a strong moral compass, he was well loved, had a keen mind, remembered everything, and will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
