Donald L. Haley, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday April 5, 2014 at Springhill Village in Terre Haute. Don was born July 2, 1931 in Clay County to James Erwin and Elizabeth Erwin, he was later adopted by Lawrence and Nannie Haley. He is preceded by his parents and a son in-law William Tabor. Don worked in and retired from Insurance Sales. He was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, VFW Post #972 where he was the chaplain and was in charge of the funeral detail for many years. He was a member of American Legion posts #46 and #104. Don like to bowl and especially enjoyed spending time with wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don was a big supporter and participant in Low League and Little League baseball programs, working with Babe Ruth and the American Legion teams as well. Don is survived by his wife, Sarah “Sally” Duke Haley, whom he married November 4, 1951. He is survived by two sons; Donald Kenneth Haley and his wife Deah of Terre Haute and Duke Clayton Haley and his wife Amanda of Seminole, Oklahoma. He is also survived by one daughter; Martha Lynn Tabor of Terre Haute. One brother, Luther Erwin and a sister, Elizabeth Hardman both of Brazil, Indiana. He is survived by eleven grandchildren; Spencer Haley, Isac Haley, Crystal Tingley, Jack Coale, Evan Coale, Lauran Kanengiser, Brook Thomas, Coty Gaskins, Haley Walker, Klein Haley and Brody Haley. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services are scheduled for Thursday April 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and from Noon until service time on Thursday. Burial will be Roselawn Memorial Park, VFW Post #972 will be conducting Military Graveside Services. Rev. Bill Duke will be officiating. On line condolences may be made at www.greinerfuneralhome.com
