James Patrick “Pat” Kelly, 64, of Terre Haute passed away on March 24, 2014 at home. He was born on July 27, 1949 in Tuscaloosa, AL to James Kelly and Annie (Smith) Kelly.
Pat attended St Pat’s and graduated from Schulte High School in 1967. He was employed by Wabash Valley Asphalt for 27 years as a laborer, operating Engineer (Local 841), superintendent and asphalt testing and design before his retirement. Pat also worked as SubDistrict Manager for INDOT, the Vigo County Surveyor’s office and was a clerk at the City of Terre Haute Clerk’s office.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Jesse Kelly; and brother, Brian Kelly.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carolyn Elliott Kelly, Children: Chrissie Patterson, Debi Kelly, Rick Kelly, Chris (and Amy) Wence, Chuck Wence (and Barb Robbins), Matt (and Tamara) Anderson all of Terre Haute, and Lynn (and John) Zimmerman of Evansville. Siblings: Kathy (and John) Hoffman, Terre Haute, Jenny (and Tom) Frank, Greenwood, Julie (and Eric) Miller, Salisbury, MD, and Kenny Kelly , Terre Haute, 17 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Special friends: Tom Newlin, Chuck Hanley and Mike Beatty.
Pat enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was an avid Notre Dame and NASCAR race fan. One of his greatest pleasures was karaoking with Chuck Hanley.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 26th, 1 p.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. Father Rick Eldred will be officiating, with Tom Newlin delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, March 25th from 5 -7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00p.m. until service time.
