Daniel J. Budd, 84, of Terre Haute passed away at his residence on March 20, 2014. He was born on September 2, 1929 to Daniel F. Budd and Alberta (Grymonprex) Budd and they have preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his wife, Mary Ann (Hines) Budd and a sister Marilyn Harris. After 20 years of service Dan retired in 1978 as a captain with the Terre Haute Fire Department and was then a grounds supervisor for ISU for 15 years, retiring in 1993. His memberships include St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, American Legion, Retired Police and Fireman’s Association, Friday Senior Bowling League, and Saturday Eagles Bowling League. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He also worked the Indy 500 in turn 3. He is survived by two sons Daniel M. Budd and his wife Penny and James R. Budd and his wife Carmen Fabiola, one daughter, Patricia Collins, and a sister Katie Sappington. His grandchildren are Ryan, Kyle, Tyler, Mackenzie, and Darrin. Other survivors include step-grandchildren, Francisco, Andrea, Julianna, Fabiana, as well as two great grandchildren, Tatum and Isabella. Memorial services will be at DeBaun Springhill chapel on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 3:00 PM. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum with military rites given by Vigo County Veterans Honor Guard Online condolences may be offered at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
