Guadalupe “Lupe” Barrerra Taylor
Guadalupe “Lupe” Barrerra Taylor, 73, of Terre Haute and formerly of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:34 p.m. She was born on April 11, 1940, in Victoria, Texas to Christine Haecker and Benito Barrerra. She loved bingo and was a big fan of Peyton Manning. She enjoyed baking, watching westerns, and listening to Latin music. Lupe loved to spend time with her family and all of her grandbabies. She owned and operated a bar in Corpus Christi, TX. Lupe is survived by her life companion Paul Finney; her children Elizabeth Shaw; Glenna and Mark Reedy; Lorrie Johnson and David McCullough; Barbie Johnson; Rena and Kenny Burk; Dallas and Steve Olmeda; her step-children Paul and Danielle Finney; and Thomas and Tish Finney. She is also survived by 5 sisters, 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, her son Larry “David” Schommer, a granddaughter Rachel Rae Johnson and a grandson Bernie Lee Schommer. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 6:00p.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. Pastor Tommy Roberts will be officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00p.m. until service time. In honoring Lupe’s wishes, cremation has been chosen.
