bingham, dorothy photoDorothy Mae Crable Bingham, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, December 22nd, 2013, at the age of 94 at Bethesda Gardens. She was born Oct. 3rd, 1919, in Lewis, IN, to Grover Crable and Elsie (Zook) Crable.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years Lloyd James Bingham, her daughter Linda Bingham and brothers Raymond Crable of Kentucky and Kenneth Crable of Pennsylvania. She is survived by her daughters, Debra Bingham Liechty of Terre Haute, IN and Shirlee Sapione of Norwalk, CT and sons-in-law, Victor Liecty and William Sapione; two granddaughters, Amber Liechty and Carmen Davis ; three great-grandchildren, Adrian James White, Zachary Connor Davis and Natalie Ruth Davis. Dorothy has one surviving sister Barbara Boling of Farmersburg IN.
Together with her husband Lloyd, Dorothy owned and managed several Terre Haute businesses including ; Quinlan’s Seed Store, American Pet and Garden Center, Twelve Points Pet Shop, and the Sanitary Barber Shop. Dorothy belonged to St Patricks Church, St Patricks Alter Society, Womans Department Club, Ladies Sycamore Club, the Ladies Elks Club, and the American Contract Bridge League.
In her later years she enjoyed playing bridge online. In addition to residency in Terre Haute Lloyd and Dorothy also kept a home in Ocala Florida for many years.
Dorothy’s family would like to thank Cathy Macke, Twyla Connor and the staff of Bethesda Gardens for the love and care provided to her.
Visitation will be Friday December 27, 2013 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 in the church with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. DeBaun Funeral Home, Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
