E.R. Dorsett, 97, of Terre Haute, passed away at 3:36 pm on Friday, November 15, 2013 in Cobblestone Crossings Health Campus.

 

E.R. was born on October 21, 1916 in Williams, IN to Dorie Dorsett and Bertha Johnson Dorsett. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Estella Ulrey Dorsett whom he was happily married to for 67 years until her death in 2004. He was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. 

 

Reflecting upon E.R.’s life, his passions were centered around faith, family, friends and automobiles. E.R. was Co-Founder of Dorsett Auto Sales, Inc. in May of 1958. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Charter Member of the Antique and The Classic Automobile Club of Wabash Valley Terre Haute, National DeSoto Club, Inc., Breakfast Optimist Club of Terre Haute, and in his early years he was a member of North Terre Haute First Baptist church where he sang in the choir.

He is survived by his second wife Frances Dishon Dorsett of Terre Haute, IN.  Also surviving is his son Larry Dorsett and his wife, Sharon Dorsett of Terre Haute.  He is also survived by two grandchildren, Brian Dorsett and his wife Gina Dorsett of Terre Haute and Julie Dorsett Decker and her husband Scott Decker of Sugar Land, TX; Seven great-grandchildren: Abigail Dorsett, Brittany Dorsett, Brandon Dorsett, Hallie Decker, Drew Decker, Zachary Decker and Brant Decker; along with several nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

 

 Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 1:30 PM, with Rev. Mark Fleschner officiating. The visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
