Lee H. Mahnesmith, age 91, died Sept. 22, 2013 at Regional Hospital. He was born June 26, 1922 to the late Willis and Ruth (Homsher) Mahnesmith near Albion, Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marcelle (McGuire) Mahnesmith . They were married July 24, 1943 in Magnolia, Mississippi where he was in service in the 99th Artillery Division, as Staff Sergeant.
Lee is also survived by a son James and his wife Barbara in Carmel, IN, two granddaughters, Stacey Ferguson and husband Andrew and Mindy Craig and husband Joshua both of Westfield, IN, eight great-grandchildren, Ethan, Cole, Reed and Jillian Ferguson, and Harrison, Gibson, Dawson, Anderson Craig.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Timothy Lee Mahnesmith, three sisters and two brothers.
Lee was a veteran of the US Army having served in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star and other medals. He worked for Liquid Carbonic Corp. for 41 years until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of the Field and Stream Club, the Prime Timers Bowlers at the Bowling Center, and a member of the United Methodist Temple.
Visitation will be Tuesday September 24, 2013 from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. with funeral services at 2:30 pm in the funeral home with Reverend Steve Cain officiating. Burial will be in Sweet Cemetery in Albion, IN on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
