Roscoe J. “Red” Barnett, Jr., 78 of Terre Haute, passed away at 2:25 PM on Monday, October 29, 2012 in his residence. He was born in Middlesboro, KY on June 27, 1934 to Roscoe Barnett, Sr. and Nellie Smith Barnett. He is survived by his wife Wanda Shelton Barnett, a son, Brad Barnett (& wife Sue) of Greenwood, IN, and 4 daughters; Neva Williams (& husband Doug) of Indianapolis, Denise Faudree (& husband Ron) of Indianapolis, Barbara Sherill of Greenwood, and Melissa Lawson (& husband Charlie) of Terre Haute. Also surviving are 2 brothers; Joe Barnett (& wife Sandi) of Medford, OR, and Sheril Barnett (& wife Alice) of Middlesboro, KY, as well as 3 sisters; Kathe Griffith of Lewisburg, KY, Hazel Holmes of Banton, OR, and Mildred Sells or Lebanon, OR, and 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Other survivors include a step-son, Jim Cottom (& wife Carolyn) of Rosedale, 2 step-daughters; Diana Downey (& husband Bill) of FL and Debi Davis of Greencastle as well as several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, and step- great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Gene and Ray, as well as 2 sisters; Mae and Fairy. Roscoe worked as a Painter for Local # 197 and was a member of the National Crossroads Bluegrass & Acoustics Music Association for many years. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Milton Roe officiating. Burial will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 2, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
