Norma Jean (Hix) Ricketts, 86, of Blackhawk, IN passed away on August 25, 2013 at 8:15 p.m. in her residence. She was born on March 7, 1927 in Terre Haute to Ocie Hix and Vern (Cleghorn) Hix. She was a graduate of Blackhawk High School. In 1946, she married Luther Beryl Ricketts with whom she spent many years. He preceded her in death. She worked in the press room at CBS Records for 23 years. She was then a cook and baker for places such as Rose Hulman Sigma Nu Fraternity, Deli-on-the- Green and Westminster Village. In her retirement she worked at Arby’s until she was nearing 80.
Survivors include her 3 sons, Ronald of Blackhawk, Gary (Chris) of Terre Haute and Mike of Bedford; daughter Pamela Sue Pence of Blackhawk; 8 grandchildren Tracee Hines, Sara Vitaniemi, Marcy Perry, Scott Ricketts, Jennifer Bowden, Brittany Johnson, Quinn Ricketts, and Townes Ricketts; also many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brother Max Ivan Hix; sister Rosalie Morse; and son Donald Lee Ricketts.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 11:00a.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Pastor Larry Ricketts will be officiating. Burial will be in Farmersburg West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, from 4:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 10:00a.m. until service time. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
