Patrick McGarvey “Pat”, 68, of Plainfield, IN passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 in Indianapolis. He was born on November 23, 1944 to Walter McGarvey and Edith Bernice (Brown) McGarvey. . He graduated from North Central High School in Farmersburg, IN, and The University of Nebraska, Omaha. After a full military career, Pat retired from the United States Army in 1985. After a distinguished military career that included two tours in Vietnam, and service at the Pentagon, Pat worked in industry for 10 years. After passing the CPA boards, from 1994-2010, he worked for the Indiana State Board of Accounts as a trainer and auditor. Patrick was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of Legion Auxiliary of Plainfield.
> Patrick is survived by his wife, Jeri (Roy) McGarvey; mother Edith Bernice McGarvey; 3 children; 3 step children; 10 grandchildren; one brother; and one sister. He is preceded in death by his father Walter McGarvey.
> Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday August 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Rev. Bert Kite will be officiating. Burial will be in Farmersburg Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday August 19, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1:00p.m. until service time. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
