Erma Elizabeth “Little Bit” Thomas, 89 of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:45 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Springhill Village. She was born in Terre Haute on February 9, 1924 to Roy Wake and Flora Wake. She was preceded in death by her husband John Richard Thomas in 1964, her parents, and 3 sisters; Jenny Mattox, Mary Smith, and Betty Boling. She is survived by her daughter Linda Lou Rogers, and her grandson John Howard & his wife Kathy. Also surviving are her great grandchildren Brittany Howard, Steven Howard, and Brooke Howard as well as her great great grandchildren Austin Romine, Alyson Romine, Alexa Gulley, and Ayden Romine. Other survivors include a sister, Judy Wyrick, and 2 brothers–in-law, Robert Wyrick and Bill Smith, and several nieces and nephews. Erma was a secretary and telephone operator for the late President Dwight Eisenhower, and also was an employee for West Vigo Middle School for more than 20 years. Funeral Services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM, with Mark Grayless officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Erma’s family would like to invite everyone to a Celebration of Life Service at the Anthony Square Dining Facility immediately following graveside services.
