Stanley W. Galenski, 83, passed away December 26, 2012 in Union Hospital. He was born in Cook County, Il on December 6, 1929 to John and Josephine (Kelboski) Galenski. After graduating from Sullivan High School in 1948, he served in the US Army, 3rd Infantry Division in Korea. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was retired from Quaker Maid after 28 years and then worked and retired from Pfizer & Company after 14 years. He is a 58 year member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Terre Haute and the VFW# 972. His survivors are his wife, Martha (Pieper) Hubbard Galenski whom he married September 4, 1954; a daughter Diana (Wes) Shelton of Crawfordsville; three sons David (Kathy) Galenski of Milford, OH, Larry (Lauren) Galenski of Florissant, MO, and Mark D. (Sue Ann) Galenski of Plainfield, IN. There are 8 grandchildren, Christopher (Cheyenne) Shelton, Amy (Jim) Power , Lisa Galenski (Fiancé’ Allen Moore), Christina (Geoffrey) Ebeling, Landon Galenski, Katherine Galenski, Lathan Galenski, Matthew Galenski, and one great-grand daughter Elizabeth Ann Ebeling. He is also survived by two sisters Mary Hunt and Helen Naiman. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grand-daughter Lynn Diane Galenski; and three brothers Joe, Wiley, and Johnny. Funeral services will be on Saturday December 29, 2012 at 1:00p.m. EST at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 645 Poplar Street, with Pastor Jacob Sutton officiating. Visitation will be on Friday December 28, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. EST in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive and from 12:00p.m. EST until 1:00 p.m. EST on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Strasburg, IL at 4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
