ROGERS, William Sep 10, 1931 – Apr 6, 2017

CARBON [mdash] William E. "Buck" Rogers, 85, of Carbon, Indiana, passed away at his residence, April 6, 2017, surrounded by his family, following an extended illness. He was born in Clay County, Indiana, Sept. 10, 1931, the son of William and Edith (Westfall) Rogers. Buck owned and operated J & B Petroleum, building and maintaining Kerr McGee gas stations in the Midwest for more than 20 years. He was also a general contractor who owned and operated Rogers Construction. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting, and was known for his storytelling. Buck enjoyed various fishing trips to Alaska, Canada and Texas. In his younger years Buck was a five-time Golden Gloves State Boxing Champion. Buck had traveled to several states, including the New England area, to represent Indiana Golden Gloves. Buck was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edith Rogers; his wife, Joanne Rogers; and two sisters, Betty Brown and Louise Eppert. Buck is survived by 10 children, Steven Rogers of Terre Haute, Indiana, Donald Alcorn (Pat) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sandy Robertson of Terre Haute, Indiana, Libby Hawthorne (Clarence) of Goodwine, Illinois, Becky Baker (Ron) of Watseka, Illinois, Jeff Rogers of Brazil, Indiana, Lorie LeLoup (Gary) of Carbon, Indiana, Robert Rogers (Sheila) of Milford, Illinois, William Rogers (Jody) of Carbon, Indiana, and Jim Rogers (Jami) of Cissna Park, Illinois; 27 grandchildren; a brother, John Rogers (Karen) of Brazil, Indiana; and two sisters, Delores Bridgewater (Mike) of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Mary Tanner (Bill) of Brazil, Indiana; as well as many many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, Indiana, from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017; and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday, with Gary Milton officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kindred Hospice, 2901 Ohio Blvd, Ste. 116, Terre Haute, IN 47803. Friends are welcome to post a memory at:
