Geraldine (Gerri) (Lanham) Wilcoxen, 85, formerly of Terre Haute, IN passed away at her oldest son’s residence in Brandon, FL on June 22, 2015. She was born on September 10, 1929 in Rose Hill, KY to Oscar Lee and Gladys Lucille (Lay) Lanham. Preceding her in death are daughter Elizabeth Ann Farner, son James Carter Wilcoxen and sister Lucetta Frances Hay. She was also preceded in death by her father’s second wife, Eva Florence (Bell) Lanham, whom actually raised Gerri. Her husband, Raymond Curtis Wilcoxen whom she married on December 7, 1946, preceded her in death on May 6, 2010. She is survived by three children, 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Her three surviving children and two surviving sisters are Velsteana May McCain (daughter) of Mulberry, IN, Ray Curtis Wilcoxen (son) of Brandon, FL, Gladys Marie Moore (daughter) of Rochester Hills, MI, Barbara Knight (sister) of Winter Haven, FL and Mary Ellen Richardson (sister) of Covington, IN. Mrs. Wilcoxen was a wife, mother and waitress from time to time to help financially support the family. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Her hobbies included making crafts, painting, watching Purdue basketball and entertaining people in her home. Funeral services will begin at 11 p.m., Monday, June 29, 2015 in the DeBaun Springhill Chapel in Terre Haute, IN with her nephew Eric Richardson officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Burial is in Farmersburg West Lawn Cemetery. Those that choose can make memorial contributions to Breast Cancer Research, American Cancer Society, or the Veterans of Foreign War.
