James Dale McCullough, Sr. , 82, died April 16, 2015 in Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, IN . He was born in West Terre Haute, IN on September 4, 1932 to Russell Berlin and Nelva Mae Brown McCullough. James married Opal Irene Jordan on February 25, 1955. He was a graduate of Concannon High School in 1950 after which he served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Paricutin (ammunition supply ship) during the Korean War (1950-1954). James was employed by Public Service Indiana (Duke Energy) from 1955-1992. He was an ordained minister from June, 1996 to the present. James served as a Christian missionary to Russia, Scotland and Israel (Billy Graham Crusade). He and his wife Opal also served as marriage counselors from 1993-2005.
James was a faithful husband and beloved father. He was preceded in death by his wife Opal on September 10, 2010. Surviving are his sons; James Dale McCullough, Jr. (Marcia) of Hillsdale, IN, Dennis Michael McCullough(Cathy) of Medina, TN, Darrell Bryan McCullough of Nova, MI and Dwayne Eric McCullough of Haubstadt, IN, his daughter; Brenda Kaye Gayso (Joseph L.) of Terre Haute, IN., ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving is his sister, Betty Jane Sizemore of Middlebury, FL.
Services will be Monday, April 20, 2015 at 1:00 PM at DeBaun Funeral Home, 85 E. Springhill Dr. Terre Haute, IN with Pastor Simeon Young officiating. Visitation will from 11-1. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Gideons.
