Byron E. Savio, 94, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday April 14, 2015 in Indianapolis. He was a retired engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad, having retired in 1978. Byron was born March 8, 1921 in Monroeville, IN to Owen henry Savio and Mabel (Ehling) Savio. He is survived by daughters, Carol Mowbray and husband Dale of Terre Haute, Sharon Brand of Georgia, and Dorothy Hultgren and husband Mark; son Byron W. Savio and wife Nancy of Terre Haute; 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Savio who died in 2008 and a sister Lois Savio. Byron was a life member of Terre Haute Masonic Lodge #19 F&AM, the Kerman Grotto where he was Past Monarch and Past Deputy Zone Director, and he was a member and past president of the Retired Railroad Retirees’. He also very much loved flying and even built his own plane and gyrocopter. Byron was also a veteran of the Indiana National Guard Army having served during WW II. Visitation will be Sunday April 19, 2015 from 1:00 until 5:00 pm in DeBaun Funeral Homes, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. with a masonic memorial service at 5:00 pm conducted by Terre Haute Lodge #19 F&AM. Funeral services will be Monday April 20, 2015 at 10:00 am in the funeral with Pastor John Turner officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family suggests that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society (envelopes will be available at the funeral home)
