“Only God can mend a broken heart”

Mark E. Killion, 62 of Hillsdale, Indiana passed away at 12:30 AM on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Union Hospital. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on February 16, 1953 to Cecil Everett and Barbara Jean Killion. He had just completed 40 years of employment with International Paper, Newport Mill and was scheduled to officially retire on April 1, 2015. Mark is survived by two sons, Mark E. Killion and wife Peggy, and Chad E. Killion and wife Stacy. Also surviving is one sister, Cathy Sheridan (Jack), brother-in-law Johnnie Rogers, Jr. (Georgia), and one sister-in-law Judi E. Boyd-Horndasch (Ron). Other survivors include his eight grandchildren, Bryce, Isaiah, Ashton, Gabe, and Graedon Killion, Madason Merritt, and Austin and Allen Menser as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Anita L. Killion (4/15/2013) to whom he had been married for almost 41 years; his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Johnnie and Mary Rogers, and his sister-in-law, Karen R. Rogers.

Before Mark lost his beloved Anita, he enjoyed life to the fullest, happiest when entertaining his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors with the grandchildren, teaching them how to ride the four-wheelers and helping them build and run the go-karts. He and Anita hosted the best 4th of July parties ever. If you were ever invited to their home for the 4th of July, you were very special to them. Mark will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive in Terre Haute on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 10:30 AM, with Pastor Ben Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 Pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.

The family wishes to acknowledge the doctors and clinical staff in ICU at Union Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion over the course of this most difficult week.
