Shirley “Christine” Simmons, 78, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday February 12, 2015 in Union Hospital. Christine was born in Kokomo, IN., December 15, 1936 to Chris Mitchell Sr. and Mamie Hunter Mitchell. Christine was a member of Salt of the Earth Worship Center, where she enjoyed worshiping and spending time with her church friends. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grand children and watching mystery shows, especially Matlock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ivan V. Simmons who passed away January 6, 1999. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; Chris Mitchell Jr., and John Mitchell. She was also preceded by a sister, Janice Doyle. She is survived by two sons; Pastor Tom Simmons and his wife Janice and John Simmons and his wife Roxie, all of Terre Haute. She is survived by one daughter; Kim Van Winkle of Marshall, IL. She is survived by two sisters; Sophia Belt of Greentown, IN., and Susan Brentley and her husband Ed of Kokomo, IN. She is survived by grandchildren; Daniel Van Winkle and his friend Jessica Keep, Caleb Simmons, Kandace Van Winkle, Scott Van Winkle, Jxsyn Simmons, Reaghan Simmons and Charlotte Simmons. She is survived by one great grandson, Logan Savant and several nieces and nephews. Services are at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at The Life Center, 3000 College Ave., Terre Haute, IN., 47803. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Tim Minks will be officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
