S. Dale Hayhurst

Hayhurst_Dale2_PhotoS. Dale Hayhurst 78, of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:30 AM on Friday, January 30, 2015 in his residence. He was born in Terre Haute on December 11, 1936 to Kendall Hayhurst and Inez Gormong Hayhurst. He was an accountant and a farmer. Dale is survived by his wife Betty Jo Snyder Hayhurst, whom he married February 15, 1959. Also surviving are his three children; Steve Hayhurst (Paula Williams), Terry Hayhurst (wife Susan), and Becky Linville (husband Mike). In addition, he is also survived by his three grandchildren; Lillian Hayhurst, Hayley Hayhurst, and Delaney Linville. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Donna Sue Hayhurst. His memberships include being a life member of Prairie Creek Wesleyan Church, Southern Indiana Wesleyan Church District Treasurer, Gideon’s International, was a member of the Sunshine Hour radio program and served as the host for many years when it was on WBOW, the National Society and Indiana Society of Accountants, the Noon Optimist Club—where he served as treasurer for 40 years and was very involved with the Clothe-a-Child campaign.   Dale also was a vital part of the Wabash Valley Fair Association, having served on the Board of Directors and was treasurer for 36 years, WIN Energy (REMC) Board of Directors and was treasurer for 26 years, served on the Vigo County Board of Health, the Vigo County Soil & Water Conservation District, the Vigo County 4H Council, and also served on the Board of Directors for several local banks. Funeral services will be held at Faith Wesleyan Church, 6751 S. Carlisle St. Terre Haute, In 47802, on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2015 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, Terre Haute, IN 470802, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to either Gideon’s International for Bibles or the Noon Optimist Clothe-a-Child Fund.
